Obituary of Sheena May Stephens-Perkins
Stephens … Perkins, Sheena May … The death of Sheena May Stephens-Perkins of Rothesay, NB, wife of Brian E. Perkins, occurred on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Newcastle, NB on May 27, 1952, she was a daughter of Lewis and Dorothy (Burns) Stephens of Miramichi, NB. Sheena was a Language Arts Specialist and District Representative of her fellow teachers in District 6. She loved teaching, her career and the children with whom she had the privilege to work. She was past-president and past-provincial director of Branch 1928 NBTA. She was a graduate of the NB teachers College, St. Thomas University and held a post-graduate degree from UNB. Besides her husband and parents she is survived by a sister, Joyce (Beverley) Arbeau of Miramichi; four brothers, Byron (Shelley) Stephens of Fredericton, NB, Trent (Stella) Stephens of Keenans Siding, NB, Peter (Gail) Stephens of South Esk, NB and Colin Stephens (Jacquelyn LeBlanc) of Quispamsis, NB; mother-in-law, Marian J. Perkins; three sisters-in-law, Jane Perkins Love (Howard Brayley) of Quispamsis, Kristin (Gary) Thompson of Ithaca, NY and Lorna Perkins (Jerry Baird) of Mississauga, ON; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting at St. James the Less Church, 1760 Rothesay Rd. on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Sunday from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held from St. James the Less Church on Monday, September 7, 2009 at 11:00 am. Remembrances made to District 6 New Brunswick Teachers Association Bursary Fund would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
