Obituary of Kevin Paul Estabrooks
Estabrooks, Kevin Paul – After years of declining health, Kevin left this life on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. Born March 10, 1958, he was the son of M. Olive (Campbell) Estabrooks and the late Kenneth Estabrooks. He is survived by his mother, Olive; wife, Cynthia Bell-Estabrooks and his only son and best “bud”, Craig Andrew Estabrooks. Kevin leaves behind his special Aunt, Audrey Estabrooks and her daughter, Lois Shaw (Gerry) and family; also his Aunts, Gloria Hinam (and son, Keith Estabrooks) and Dorothy Perry and family, all of Saint John; his only Uncle, Arthur Estabrooks (Mary –Lou) and family of Regina, SK; niece and nephew, Sarah and Peter Josselyn; and many cousins. Kevin will be sorely missed by his many, many friends, especially Terry Cunningham, Andy Simpson, Doug Simpson and Myles Milligan. From a very early age, Kevin loved his “Sports” – especially the 49ers, Dodgers and Hawks. He played Junior (Beavers) and Senior (Warriors) hockey, coached the S.N.R. “B” team plus the AAA Saint John Pepsi Midgets; however, golf was his passion. He played golf very well and was a Board Member of both Westfield and Riverside Golf and Country Clubs. Kevin was also very involved with Charity Work (Cops for Cancer) plus other needy fundraisers. Kevin was most proud of his ancestral relationship to the World Famous Paris Crew – being great, great grandson of Robert Fulton. Kevin worked in the Engineering Dept. (Survey Crew) for the City of Saint John, retiring in 1998 due to ill health. He was a proud member of and Trustee for the City of Saint John Pension Board representing Local 486 (Inside Workers) and later the C.S.J. Retirees Assoc. In May 2003, he attained the International Foundation Certificate for Advanced Trustee Management Standards (Pension Funds). Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. There will not be any visiting but a Memorial Service will be held from St. George’s Church, Watson St. West on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 11 am. A private burial will be held at a later time. Kevin has requested that remembrances be made to the Saint John Animal Rescue League, St. George’s Church or any charity of choice.
