Obituary of Grace Elizabeth Bowes
The death of Grace Bowes, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, occurred suddenly at her home on Alward Street, on Wednesday, July 16, 2008. She was born in Corner Brook, NL on March 25, 1931 to the late Charles and Mary (Tait) Sexton. Grace worked for Sears in the Fabric and Notions Department and as a receptionist for Clarke Drummie & Co.. She was a member of St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement Church and the Millidgeville Seniors Club. Grace is survived by her loving husband Kenneth of Saint John, NB; three daughters: Debbie Riordon (Guy) of St. Anns, ON, Joan Wilson (Reg) Bathurst, NB and Mary Lou Doucette (Chris) of Saint John, NB; two sons: Tony (Anne) Elford and John Elford both of Saint John, NB; two sisters: Nena Basha (Reg) of Corner Brook, NL and Blanche Rousell of Dartmouth, NS; four sisters in-law: Rhoda Sexton, Frances Leaver, Carol Bowes and Gerry Collrin (Leroy); 11 grandchildren: Jacob and Rhoda Scott, Deidre and Shane Riordon, Colin and Dustin Wilson, Erin Elford, Nicholas and Michelle Doucette, Lynsi and Jordan Elford; one great granddaughter Emma Scott and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Grace was predeceased by four brothers: Lloyd, Ed, Ches and Harold Sexton and one sister, Irene Sexton. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visitation on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 2:30 pm. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation.
