The death of Arnold E. Sherriff of Westfield, NB, who was born on April 9th 1938, passed away on July 13, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital due to a short battle with cancer. Arnold is pre-deceased by his loving wife, Violet May (Hovey) Sherriff of 49 years; his parents, Edward Frederick and Evelyn Irene (Speight) Sherriff and brother, Norman. He is survived by his four children, Kevin (Sandy) Sherriff of Ontario, Katherine Sherriff of Florenceville, NB, Carol Collings (Ken) of Quispamsis, NB and Kenneth Sherriff (Kim) of Saint John; one sister, Sharon; three brothers, George (Ken) (De), Robert (Farmer) and Terrance; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Arnold was a great provider for his family. He was an avid hunter who loved being outdoors, either gardening, fishing, yard work and going for long drives in the country. In Arnold’s life, he has worked as a Taxi Driver, a Longshoreman at the Port for ten years. He was a seaman on the Great Lakes of Ontario for two years, he also worked at Marque Construction, Irving Paper but his passion was carpentry, and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local # 1386, where he could build anything. He was loved by many and will be missed very much by all. There will be a small family service at the Sherriff home on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11:00 am. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
