She taught in several schools in New Brunswick and continued her profession in the Brampton area when she moved to Ontario in 1954 retiring there in 1970. After her husband’s death, she returned to Saint John where she spent many summers in Black River. Bertha is survived by one sister, Dorothy Loughery of Saint John; two nephews, Merrill Loughery (Patricia) of Saint John West and Albert Loughery (Julie) of Markham, Ontario and by several grand-nieces and nephews, as well as an active friend, Allen Welch. She was predeceased by her brothers Emmerson and Grenville and her sister Jean. Although there will be no visitation, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM from St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, Black River. Interment will take place in St. Thomas’ Cemetery, Black River, at a later date.
