Obituary of Pearl M. Burns
Burns, Pearl M. … Pearl M. Burns, 91, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2008 at St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver. Born on January 20, 1917 in Central Blissville, NB, a daughter of Gilbert and Matilda McLaughlin Byers. Widow of Donald M. Burns, mother of John (Judy) of Scottsdale, Arizona and Robert (Marion Cho) of Burnaby, B.C. Dear grandmother of Alyssa, Shaun, and Ryan. Predeceased by sisters Ena Gallery (Bern), Dora Kiervin (Jerry), Jane (Jen) Boone, and brother Will Boone, all of Saint John. Pearl leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews in New Brunswick and Alberta. Pearl served as a nursing sister in France and Belgium during World War II arriving in Normandy only a few weeks after D-Day. Thanks to the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital for their care. In lieu of flowers donations to the CNIB or another charity of your choice will be appreciated. A memorial service will be held from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 11:30 am. Private interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery.
