Obituary of Richard James McFadden
The family of Richard James McFadden , "Bob", are very saddened to announce his death at the Saint John Regional Hospital on August 25, 2018 after a lengthy illness with COPD.
Bob was born November 24, 1938 and was brought up by Ida and Adam Hughes in Springfield, NB.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Warnock) and four children, sons: Richard (Jennifer) of Saint John, Robert of Brampton, ON, and Jamie of Saint John; daughter, Bonnie Chevarie of Milton, ON; seven grandchildren: Brittany LeBlanc, Virginia McFadden, Nicholas Chevarie, and Philip, Claire, Heidi, and Lily McFadden.
Bob was employed at Irving Paper for 26 years where he was known as "Dickie". He was proud of his work and enjoyed the camaraderie of his co-workers. He retired early at age 57 and moved to Oak Point where he joined the Canadian Legion Branch 87 and became proficient at darts and horseshoes, and loved playing cards with the Seniors. He was a passionate fan of old country music and an ardent baseball fan.
He was a unique and special person to his family.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family interment will take place in Oak Point Anglican Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to the NB Lung Association would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
