Obituary of Shirley Joan Moore
MOORE, SHIRLEY J. … Shirley Joan Moore passed away peacefully on Friday, October 03, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, aged 76. She will be deeply missed. Born on July 28, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Hollis and Greta Daley of Saint John. Shirley was born in Saint John, raised her family in East Saint John, and moved to Black River where she was a long-time member of the Seaview Community Club, and a member of St. Thomas ACW. Her love was to knit hats and mitts for the children of Romero House. She was famous for her potato doughnuts and baking for the community, and loved playing cards, bingo, crib, and decorating for Christmas Shirley is survived by her loving family, husband Lawrence, to whom she was married 55 years, and her children: Stanley (May), Raymond (Tara), Sandra Graves (Doug), Paul (Charlene), and Hollis (Carolyn); 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, plus her dog, Boo. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by brothers Hannican, Stanley, Douglas, and Frederick Daley. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday, October 5, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2008 at 1:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in St. Thomas Anglican Church Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to St. Thomas Anglican Church, Black River, the Canadian Cancer Society, or to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Special thanks to the nurses in Oncology, 4th Floor Internal Medicine, and Palliative Care.
