Obituary of Joseph Sherman LaPointe

With his family by his side, Joseph Sherman Jr. LaPointe passed away on February 1, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the beloved son of JoAnn and Sherman LaPointe. Besides his parents, Joe is survived by his sister, Shawna LaPointe (Justin) and grandmother, Louise LaPointe. He was predeceased by grandmother, Eva LaPointe and grandfathers, James LaPointe and Paul LaPointe. Joe was a graduate of Saint John High School and had served in the Canadian Armed Forces. He was an avid poker player and loyal Montreal Canadiens fan. Joe loved music, football, baseball, his 1979 Firebird and animals, especially his dog, Major. Joe leaves behind his best friends, Simeon Hogan, Tyrell Sparkes, David Mallory, Andrew Nowlan, Rob McCluskey and Kevin Brideau. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Marilyn Logan and Kim Richards for their amazing care of Joe over the past few years. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, Waterloo Street, on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 12:05 noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. The family would appreciate donations made to the Saint John Animal Rescue League or the Stan Cassidy Rehabilitation Centre.
