Obituary of Vera Elizabeth Allen
The death of Vera Elizabeth Allen, wife of the late Raymond Allen, occurred on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Riverdale Manor, Hampton. Born at Mars Hill, Maine, she was a daughter of the late William and Mabel (Tabor) Brown. Vera was a former member of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Barnesville. She loved to cook, pick berries, and enjoyed a great sense of humour. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends at Riverdale Manor. She is survived by a daughter, Mary MacDonald of Saint John; a daughter-in-law, Dawna Allen of Saint John; grandchildren Stephen MacDonald (Susan) of Norton, Ricky MacDonald of Saint John, Tanya Tingley (Terry) of Sussex, and Kimberly David (Darren) of Rothesay; 10 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her canine friend, Bandit, who occupied a special place in her heart. Vera was predeceased by a son, Russell Allen; a son-in-law, Clarence (Mac) MacDonald; a brother, Clifford Brown; and a sister, Mildred Brown. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in the Mosher Hill Cemetery, St. Martins. For those who wish, remembrances to the Children’s Wish Foundation or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
