Obituary of Francis Barry MacKenzie
MacKenzie, Francis Barry, “Spud” – Of Hampstead passed away unexpectedly in Grand Falls on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Born in Charlottown, PEI, August 22, 1949 he was a son of the late Lester and Jessie (McRae) MacKenzie. Barry was employed at NB Power for the past five years and prior to that he worked and had several trades at the Saint John Shipyard for 27 years. He also served with the Canadian Armed Forces in Cyprus during the 1960’s. He enjoyed antique cars, riding motorcycles and reading, but his greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife; Marlyn Mae MacKenzie; three sons, Stewart MacKenzie of Saint John, Danny MacKenzie (Donna) of Saint John and Trevor MacKenzie (Lisa) of Victoria, BC; one daughter, Crystal-Dawn of Saint John; three brothers, Jackie MacKenzie (Lilly), Alexander MacKenzie (Wilma) and Robert MacKenzie, all of PEI; three sisters, Laverne McGuigan (Michael), Ida Williams and Ruth Jenkins (Brian), all of PEI; five grandchildren, Devan, Tori, Damien, Brianna and Ethan; brothers-in-law, Allen Marshall (Arlene), Raymond Marshall and Wayne Marshall (Susan), and sisters-in-law, Leslie Marshall and Karen (Jerry Adams); as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by three brothers, Roy, William and Niel. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 11:30am. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.
