Obituary of William Arthur Hosford
William Arthur (Bill) Hosford of Saint John, husband of Wanita (Black) Hosford, passed away unexpectedly at Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, on Saturday, August 15, 2009. Born at Smithtown on January 15, 1929, he was a son of the late Arthur and Violet Alexa (Blakley) Hosford. Bill was employed for more than 40 years with Wilson Roofing. He was an active member of the Jervis Bay Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, and was a long-time member of the Ball’s Lake Fishing Association. He will be sadly missed by his many, many friends throughout the city. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by a son, Christopher Hosford (Michelle) of Nova Scotia; a step-son, Bob Cobbett (Donna) of Saint John West; daughters-in-law Sienne Levesque (Louis) of Burton and Cathy Hosford of Norton; a sister, Alice LeBlanc (Herb) of Rothesay; grandchildren Kevin Hosford and Lorne Lynch; two great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Betty (Elward) Hosford; a son, Michael Hosford; and brothers Thomas, Perry, Bliss, Roy, Leslie, and Lloyd. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:30 AM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. The members of the Royal Canadian Legion will gather on Wednesday at 7 PM for a tribute service.
