Obituary of Greta Belle Cobham
Greta Belle (Van Wart) Cobham, widow of Wilfrid R. Cobham, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital in the presence of her loving family. Born in Saint John on May 31, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Mabel and Burton Van Wart. She retired more than thirty years ago from the Accounting Department at Sears. A lifelong member of Rivercross Church, she put God and family first. She was kind and generous to others with her time and her resources. She loved to travel; she loved to shop for bargains; she loved flowers and she loved sweets. She maintained her wonderful sense of humour until the end.
Greta is survived by her daughter, Linda (Gerald Laflamme); son, David; granddaughter, Emmaly Allison; great-grandson, William Allison, all of Saint John, as well as several nieces and nephews. The third of nine children, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by sisters, Georgie, Marion, Kathleen, Ruth, Dorothy and Jean as well as brothers, Burton and Harold.
The family would like to thank Dr. Luan Le and the nursing staff of 5CN at the Saint John Regional Hospital for the excellent care provided to Greta.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, 634-7424 with visitation on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
