Obituary of Mary Lou Brooks
Mary Lou Brooks of Hampton, wife of Paul M. Brooks, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on April 27, 1955, she was a daughter of Betty (Rossley) Conway and the late Harold Conway. Mary Lou owned and operated Riverdale Manor Special Care Home in Hampton, and worked for many years with seniors in the Hampton area. She was a member of St. Alphonsus’ Church, Hampton. In addition to her husband and to her mother, Mary Lou is survived by her three sons, Michael Brooks (Krissy Travis) of Bloomfield, Christopher Brooks of Hampton, and Neal Brooks (Rhonda Stone) of Truro, NS; her brothers and sisters Patsy Charlton (James) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Thomas Conway (Elaine), Valerie Willar (Richard), and Norman Conway (Linda), all of Saint John; grandchildren Conner and Tristen; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her special canine friend, Bandit. In addition to her father, Mary Lou was predeceased by brothers Robert and James Conway; and by her best friend, Dawn Cormier. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:00 Noon from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
