Obituary of Elsie R. McCarron
After a courageous battle with cancer, the death of Elsie Roberta “Bobbie” (McKelvie) (Gibbons) McCarron of Quispamsis, NB, wife of James McCarron, occurred on June 28, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John in 1938, she was a daughter of Beatrice (Nelson), step-father Keith Trenholm and the late William McKelvie. Elsie was employed with the Work Place Health and Safety Commission as a claims officer and earlier with General Electric. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Elsie’s life centered around her family and friends. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, devoted to her children and grandchildren. Elsie’s circle of friends from childhood through her working career and into her later years remained good friends through her whole life. Elsie will be remembered for the love and friendship she shared with so many. Besides her husband and mother she is survived by two sons, Geoff (Kathy) and Paul (Kelly); two step-daughters, Lori (Sean) Irish and Linda Duff all of Saint John; three brothers, Ron (Wilma) McKelvie of British Columbia, Bill (Shirley) McKelvie of Ontario, and Don (Marie) McKelvie of Saint John; four sisters, Christina (Wilfred) Mahoney of Saint John, Barbara Ann (Ralph) Craig of Quispamsis, Mamie (Ernie) Freeze of Renforth, and Betty (Gordon) Smith of Nova Scotia; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kimberly, Elizabeth, Michael,Corey, Nicole, Katelyn and Kyle; several nieces and nephews. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her former husband, Harry Gibbons and one brother, Doug Tippett. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424), with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay, NB, at 12:30 pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
