Obituary of Jennie Elizabeth Stevens
STEVENS, JENNIE ELIZABETH- The death of Jennie Elizabeth Stevens of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Arnold Stevens, occurred on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Bear River, Annapolis County, NS, on March 22, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Sarah (Harris) Irving. Jennie was a very kind and gentle woman and loved dancing and cooking. She was a member of Main Street Baptist church. Jennie’s dream was that all of her children would come together as one. Jennie is survived by six sons, Ronald (Pam), Arnold, David, John (Tony) all of Saint John; Eric (Verna) of BC, Gerald of Fredericton; three daugthers, Dorothy Auston of Maine, USA; Darlene Thumbiayah of Alberta; Juanita Stevens (Mike) of Saint John; two sisters, Beatrice (Paul) Smith of Springfield, MA, USA; Josephine Stevens of Toronto, ON; twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant daughter Elizabeth, brothers, Paul, Crosby, and Roy; and sons-in-law, Sam Auston and Waran Thumbiayah. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424, with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2008 from Brenan’s Chapel at 10 am. Interment will be in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Canadian Cancer Society, or any charity of choice.
