Obituary of Maryon Barker

The peaceful passing of Miss Maryon Barker occurred on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the Kennebec Manor Nursing Home. She was born on April 4, 1914 at Saint John to the late Harry and Margaret (Craig) Barker. She was a graduate of the St. John General Hospital School of Nursing. Maryon worked at the D.V.A. Hospital for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Barnabas Anglican Church. Maryon was the last surviving member of her family. Besides her parents, two sisters Margaret Smith and Elizabeth Goodwin predeceased her. A funeral service in Maryon’s memory will be held at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 10 am. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Saint John Boys and Girls Club Lunch Program and any local Food Bank.
