Obituary of Mary Bernice O'Hara
The death of Mary Bernice O’Hara of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Gerard Anthony O’Hara, occurred on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Carleton Kirk Lodge Nursing Home. Born in Milkish Creek, NB, on September 30, 1923, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (McLean) Nisbet. Bernice was past president of St. Peter’s Church C.W.L, a member of St. Bridget’s Church, Chapel Grove, the Bible study group in Bayswater, Peninsula Pearls Senior Citizens Club and an honorary member of the Kings Co Liberal Association. She was a foster parent to a child in Ecuador (Eufimeo Pacheo). She volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society and the Legion of Mary. Survived by her six sons, Leo (Mary) of Saint John, Gerard (Bonnie) of Angus, ON, Paul (Lynn) of Halifax, NS, James (Linda) of Saint John, Hugh (Pauline) of Saint John and Christopher of Saint John; three daughters, Mary Frances (Don) Campbell of Port Hope, ON, Anna Marie O’Hara of Saint John and Susan (Morris) Landry of Darlings Island, NB; one brother, Ernest Nisbet of Milkish Creek; one sister, Norma Gibson of Moncton, NB; twelve grandchildren, Ben, Peter, Anthony, Timothy, Jerry, Jessica, Meghann, Ryan, Keegan, Danny, Katie and Julia; one great-grandchild, Jude; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three brothers, James, John (Jack) and Charles Nisbet; one sister, Anna Nisbet. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Monday from 7-9 pm and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, Saint John on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 11:00 am. Interment in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Chapel Grove. Remembrances made to Romero House, Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
