Obituary of Thomas Leo Grant
The death of Thomas Leo Grant of Dieppe, and formerly of Saint John, husband of Hilda G. (Slipp) Grant, occurred on Monday, September 01, 2008 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital. Born at Saint John, he was a son of the late Thomas and Rose (Collrin) Grant. Thomas was employed for 40 years with Saint John Transit as a bus driver, until his retirement at age 65. He was an avid harness racing fan and owner, being a former member of the Saint John Harness Horseman’s Association, and enjoyed a good game of horseshoes. When he lived in Saint John, Thomas was a member of Lancaster Baptist Church, and he is currently a member of the Lewisville Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by three sons, Thomas Grant of Saint John, Terry Grant of Surrey, British Columbia, and Troy Grant (Nicolle) of Dieppe; a sister, Barbara Murr (Gerry LeBlanc) of Saint John; grandchildren Drew Thomas Allan Grant, Amber Marie Grant, Thomas Richard Grant, Rebecca Danielle Grant, and Courtney Elizabeth Grant; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Diabetes Association or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
