Obituary of William Waine Bodycott
The sudden passing of Bill Bodycott, husband of Mary Bodycott (Walker), of Quispamsis occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. He was born on April 8, 1944 at Guelph, ON to the late George and Dorothy (Bodycott) Lazenby. Bill served in the Canadian Armed Forces for over 30 years. He had two tours in Cyprus with the UN and three years stationed in Germany with NATO. Bill also worked for ten years with Canadian Corps of Commissionaires at the Saint John Harbour Bridge. He was a member of the Douglas Avenue Christian Church and the Rothesay Baptist Dart League. Bill was active in most sports throughout his life, but in his later years he was an avid golfer. Besides his loving wife, Mary, Bill is survived by three daughters: Laurie Zimmermann (Ian) of Ottawa, ON, Robin Russell (Cory) of Thunder Bay, ON and Janice Bodycott (William Wallace) of Saint John, NB; two brothers: Patrick (Debbie) and George (Patricia) Lazenby; one sister, Shirley Gale; three grandchildren: Justin, Alexander and Connor and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by a brother Michael Lazenby. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at 2 pm from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in the Field of Honour at Greenwood Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Douglas Avenue Christian Church Building Fund.
