Obituary of Robert Kenneth Mercer
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Mercer of Youngs Cove, NB, husband of Joan (Ferris) Mercer, on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on April 28, 1944, he was a son of Mary (Hart) Mercer and the late William Mercer. At the time of his retirement he was a supervisor with Rothesay Paper Co. Bob was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan and enjoyed hunting, golfing and dancing. Besides his wife and best friend of 42 years and his mother he is survived by his two daughters, Robin Wright (Gregory) of Nerepis, NB and Heather Mercer (Earl Hargraves) of Youngs Cove, NB; four grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, Kassidy Wright and Miranda Mercer; six brothers, Jack (Leigh) of London, ON, Thomas (Mary) of Grand Bay … Westfield, NB, Larry (Arlene) of Gondola Point, NB, Patrick (Bernice) of Quispamsis, NB, Ian (Theresa) and Eugene, both of Saint John; four sisters, Ann Marie MacDonald (Lou) and Christine Scribbans (Bill), both of Saint John, Judy Steeves of Manitoba and Jacqueline (Patrick) Ards of Alberta; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and a grandson, Lucas Perry. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Friday, February 6, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Memorial Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Palliative Care Unit of Saint John Regional Hospital. Many thanks to Dr. Dolan, Dr. Smith, Dr. Comeau and the nurses and staff of 5A south, Dr. Julia Wildish and all the loving and caring nurses and staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit. The loving kindness that you have given to our family will never be forgotten, God Bless.
