Obituary of Robert James Marks
Robert Marks passed away peacefully in his sleep, the morning of Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in St. Martins, N.B. on July 5, 1931, he was the eldest son of Harold and Lily (Hunter) Marks.
Bob graduated from St. Martins Superior School and began a career in Banking with the Bank of Nova Scotia. He remained in Saint John several years at the Charlotte Street branch and then Toronto and finally New York City until his retirement. Bob was an avid reader and loved to travel. On arriving back in Saint John in 2002, he lived in the city center. He so enjoyed access to the library, city market, and walking the "Harbour Passage" daily, and being nearer his family.
Bob is survived by his brothers Harold (Marlene) of St. Martins, Eugene (Dorothy) of Laval, QC, Ted (Sherry) of Squamish, B.C., and sister Lorraine (John Redstone) of Saint John and their families.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 12:30 – 2:00 PM. A memorial service will be held from the Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, immediately following the visitation, at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in St. Martins Cemetery after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name may be made to St. Martins Baptist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online Condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
