Obituary of David Francis Rattray
The death of David Francis Rattray of Brown’s Flat, NB, occurred on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Moncton, NB, David was the son of the late Alexander and Gertrude (Killiam) Rattray. David was employed for many years as a lineman with Civic Hydro until his retirement in 1979. He was a veteran of WWII, serving four years overseas with the RCAF. David was a member of the RCL Branch #49 and Brown’s Flat United Baptist Church. He was an active curler, golfer, bowler, swimmer and hockey player. David is survived by step daughter, Kathie Howe (David) of Saint John; step son, Jim Hawkins (Cathy) of Saint John; his step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret (Adams); second wife Star; brothers, Alexander (Sandy), Frederick, & Reginald; and one sister, Ada Marshall. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home, on Thursday at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Friday, January 9, 2009, at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish remembrances may be made too the charity of the donor’s choice.
