Obituary of Francis L.A. McKenna
Francis (Frank) L.A. McKenna … 63, of Saint John, NB, formerly of Sydney Mines, NS. Our Lord and Saviour called Frank home on July 27, 2008. Born December 9, 1944, Frank was the eldest son of Frank and Mary (Collier) McKenna, Devoe; Forrest Street, Sydney Mines, NS. He was predeceased by his dad; brother, Louis Adrian (infant) and sister, Ann Marie (Rolie) Randle. Frank is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Barbara (Green), daughter, Danielle, sons, Aaron and Andrew, mother, Mary (Walter) Devoe, sisters Geraldine (George) Walker, Helen (Mike) Woroby, brothers, Michael (Sally), Blaise (Donna), step-brothers and sisters, Kevin, Blair, Gerald (Rita), Diane (Donnie), Michelle (Louie), and Patsy. Special little ones, Baily and Brianne, several nieces and nephews; Frank will also be missed by many friends. Frank was Class Valedictorian for his Sydney Mines High School Grade XII graduating class. Frank joined the Royal Canadian Navy (R.O.T.P.) and graduated in 1965 from ST.FX with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Frank was employed by NBTel in Saint John, NB from 1966 until his retirement in 2000. Frank’s love of Information Technology (IT) then led him stateside to a rewarding 7 year IT consulting career. As a player, coach and administrator Frank was involved in baseball/softball for over 40 years. He also enjoyed bowling, tennis, curling and hunting. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2008 with visiting from 1 pm to service time at 2 pm from Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines, NS. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory may be made to your local Little League Baseball.
