Obituary of Georgina Florence Biggs
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Georgina Florence (Lamb) Biggs (loving wife of the late Chester Biggs) announce her passing on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 17, 1927 in Salmon Creek, NB, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Sibbald (Darrah) Lamb.
Georgie loved her church and was a lifetime member of the Portland UCW – Jeannette Ball Unit. Above all, Georgie took great pride in her home and especially loved to have her family over for dinners and gatherings. Her home was the "go to" place for all occasions! Georgie was an avid camper until the age of 84, spending weekends on Grand Lake and at Cambridge-Narrows. She also had a passion for gardening, carefully tending to her flowers and vegetables. Georgie loved to walk, skate, knit and quilt. In fact, all of her children and grandchildren were blessed with one of her quilts. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Georgie is survived her sons, Dwayne (Nancy) of Calgary and Stephen (Sandra) of Saint John; daughter, Karen (Dean) of Saint John; sister, Bernice Thompson, brothers, Chesley Lamb (Joan) and Joseph Lamb, all of Chipman; sisters-in-law, Audrey Lamb, Betty Lamb, Beulah Lamb, Marjorie Glencross and Shirley MacDonald; four grandchildren, Christopher (Laura), Stephanie (Ed), Isaac and Ethan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Georgie was predeceased by her brothers, Lauchlan, Benton, Alexander, Clayton and Goldwin.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 12:00 PM from Portland United Church, 50 Newport Crescent, Saint John. Interment to take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Portland United Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
