Obituary of Lawrence Albert Merritt
Merritt, Lawrence Albert … The death of Lawrence “Larry” Albert Merritt of Saint John, NB, husband of the late Katheryn “Patricia” (West) Merritt, occurred on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on January 15, 1933, he was a son of the late Arthur and Hazel (McEachern) Merritt. Prior to his retirement he had been employed at Moosehead Breweries. He is survived by three sons, Robert (Angela) of Saint John, Peter (Gabriella) and Craig, both of Ottawa, ON; one daughter, Catherine Merritt of Saint John; two sisters, Ruth Agar of Niagara Falls, ON and Coreen Ward of Saint John; four grandchildren, Richard, Amanda, Rylan and Aliyah Merritt; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he was predeceased by four brothers, Ronald, Otto, Robert and Calvin; and three sisters, Connie Gibbs, Carol Oldfield and Delma Merritt. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Interment will be held in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery in the spring. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or any charity of choice.
