Obituary of Alfred Chatwin
The death of Alfred "Fred" Chatwin occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, July 8, 2011. Born in Arbroath, Angus County, Scotland, he was the son of the late Charles and Helen Chatwin. Fred and his wife Marjory immigrated to Canada in 1957. He was a partner in the architectural firm of Mott, Myles & Chatwin in Saint John for thirty five years. He was an associate of the A.R. I.B, U.K, president of the A.A.N.B, fellow of the Royal I.A. Canada, and president of the St. Andrews Society and president of Parr Town Club. He was a member of St. John & St. Stephen Church (now known as Grace Presbyterian Church) and a member of the board of St. John & St. Stephen Church Nursing Home for seven years. He was also a three year member of Saint John Town Planning Committee. He was a long time member of Riverside Golf & Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Marjory; and several nieces and nephews in Scotland and England. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Helen Foster; and a brother, Charles Chatwin. In keeping with the family’s wishes, a private funeral service will be held at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to Grace Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family.
