Obituary of John Joseph Horgan
Peacefully at the Turnbull Nursing Home, the death of John Horgan, formerly of Hazen Street occurred on Monday, January 17, 2011. He was born on September 24, 1921 at Saint John to the late John Cornelius and Florence Elizabeth (Donovan) Horgan. He was a graduate of Saint Vincent’s Boys High School and Grade 12 at Saint John High School. John was an employee of Saint John Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. Ltd., retiring after 41 years in 1983. He was a lover of a good book and an avid reader. John was a lifelong baseball fan of the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays. He was a Grand Associate of the Friends of Saint Brother Andre of St. Joseph’s Oratory of Montreal, QC. He is survived by his sister, Anna Marie Horgan and several cousins. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Waterloo Street on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 12:05 PM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Romero House would be appreciated by the family.
