Obituary of Barbara Frances Munn
Barbara Frances Munn of Saint John, wife of the late Clarence Glendon Munn, passed away on Tuesday, July 05, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at McGivney, New Brunswick on December 6, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Sterling and G. Irene (Astle) Cowie. Barbara was formerly employed at Calps, Zellers, and the Dolan Road Irving, and finally operated her own seamstress and dress making business before retiring. She was a member of Branch 69 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and was the first woman on the Executive of the Main Brace Naval Association. In her spare time, Barb loved traveling, enjoying trips to Vancouver, England, and Massachusetts on a regular basis when her health allowed. Always ready to help those in need, Barb had a gift for fund-raising which she put to use for many worthy causes. Barb is survived by her children, Mercer Munn (Terry) of Saint John, Bert Munn (Robert Poirier) of Vancouver, Doug Munn (Donna) of Burton, Ron Munn (Helen) of Saint John West, and Krista Lesjak (Rob) of Saint John West; her partner, Fred Allen of Saint John; grandchildren Jordon Munn, Arielle-Desiree Munn, Ricky Cable, Michael Mahar, Patrick Munn, Wayne Lesjak, Greg Lesjak, and Tyler Lesjak; a brother, Hedley Cowie (Edie) of Nashwaak Bridge; sisters Gladys Munn (Laurie) of Nashwaak Bridge and Rena Neales (Richard) of Fredericton; and several nieces and nephews. Barb was predeceased by a son, Donnie Munn; grandsons Andy Munn and Randy Cable; brothers Ross and Neil Cowie; and a sister, Joan Peterson. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday, July 8, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in the Astle Community Cemetery on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM.
