Obituary of Robert Borden Durning
The death of Robert "Bordie" Durning of Saint John, NB, husband of Dorothy (Magee) Durning, occurred on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on January 24, 1942, he was the son of the late Thomas and Edith (Garnett) Durning. Robert retired after 32 years as a Region 2 Hospital Admissions officer at Ridgewood Addiction Services. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Robert enjoyed spending time at his cottage at Acamac Beach. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. Robert loved to spend time with his family especially his twin sister, Nina, his grandchildren and his great-grandson whom was the apple of his eye. He was a true animal lover and diligently volunteered with his friend Pat for the Maritime Karma Cat Rescue. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Deborah Lynn Green (Peter Kingston) of Saint John; Kimberly Joan Durning (Ed Crossman) of Darlings Island and chosen daughter, Kelly Lynn Morrell of Saint John; five grandchildren, Robert Scott Durning, Geoffrey Thomas Durning (Jessica), Kelly Erin Patterson (Dan), Kalyn Erika Green (Scott) and Jillian Patricia Green; one great-grandson, Draice Patrick Robert Durning; his twin sister, Nina Durning of Saint John; one sister-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Durning of Saint John; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Florence Hachey and Joan Cook ; two brothers, James and William Durning; sister-in-law, Margaret Durning and brother-in-law, Wally Cook. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 2-9 pm. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 2:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel.
