Obituary of Donald Vincent Dickson
Surrounded by his family, Don Dickson passed away peacefully at the Ridgewood Veterans Hospital on Saturday, January 21, 2012. Born on November 24, 1919 in Pt. Wolfe, NB, he was the son of the late Arthur and Bessie Dickson. Donald worked at the Irving Pulp and Paper Mill as a Mill Wright for 48 years retiring in 1983. He loved fishing and enjoyed many hours picking berries, especially cranberries at Fundy National Park. Donald was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and loved reading and teaching the bible. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Shirley Jean (Titus), his five children, Dougie Dickson of Western Canada, Judy Ryder (Thomas) of Saint John, NB, Daryl (Dinorah) of Saint John, NB, Deborah Byron (Daniel) of Moncton, NB and Kevin Dickson of Saint John, NB, and three sisters, Helen Earl, Barbara Steeves both of Riverside, NB and Lois Martin of Sussex, NB and grandchildren, Clayton, Derrick, Jason, Kevin, Jeremy, Peter and Sarah and five great-grandchildren. Donald was predeceased by two brothers, Daryl and Arthur and one sister Jean. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (643-7424). The Funeral Service will take place from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2020 Loch Lomond Road on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM. For those who wish, donations can be made to the Ridgewood Comfort Fund at the family’s request.
