Obituary of Norma May Cook
With appreciation of a life well lived, the family of Norma May Cook, loving wife of the late George Cook, grieve for her passing, which occurred on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Kennebec Manor. Born in Parrsboro, NS on October 20, 1932, Norma was a daughter of the late F. James and Beulah (Pettis) Ogilvie.
In her early years, Norma was employed with Connor’s Bros. in Black’s Harbour. After marriage, her focus changed and she became a stay at home Mom. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Norma was a faithful member of Saint John First Wesleyan Church. She was active in their choir and she taught Sunday school for several years. Despite battling Crohn’s disease for over 50 years, she gave her all to her family. Norma was supportive, funny and enjoyed a good joke; these qualities made her a good friend, and she had many lasting friendships. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Norma will be remembered by her daughters: Karen (Vince) Robertson of Clark’s Harbour, NS and Donna Cook of Saint John, NB, and her granddaughter: Olivia (David) Phillips of Toronto, ON. Besides her parents, Norma was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, George, her son Donald and sister Florena Ogilvie.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will take place on Thursday, October 18 from 4 – 8 and Friday, October 19, 2018 at the church, at 10:00 AM. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 19 at 11:00 AM from Saint John First Wesleyan Church, 399 Boars Head Road. Interment will take place at St. George Rural Cemetery.
