Obituary of Gerald Malcolm Baxter
Gerald Malcolm Baxter of Baxter’s Corner, NB, husband of Shirley Alice Baxter, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Gerald was born in Saint John on March 1, 1932 to the late George and Myrtle (Jones) Baxter. Gerald worked for many years for the City of Saint John, retiring in 1986. He was a life-long member of All Saint’s Anglican Church, Upper Loch Lomond. Gerald enjoyed his retirement years hunting, fishing, and working outdoors. He and Shirley also enjoyed camping and trailering, which they did for many years. However, the greatest joy in his life was his family: he was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He enjoyed being a part of their everyday lives, and will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him. Gerald’s family included his wife of 56 years; his children, Stephen Baxter (Maureen), the late Douglas Baxter (surviving wife Carolyn), Kathy Barton (Keith), David Baxter (Kim) and Darryl Baxter, all of Baxter’s Corner; his 15 grandchildren and one great grandson; his siblings, the late Donald Baxter (surviving wife Joyce), Harvey Baxter (Eileen) of Baxter’s Corner, Shirley Rankin (the late Charlie) of Saint John, Carl Baxter (Ruth) of Baxter’s Corner, Gary Baxter (Shirley) of Saint John, and Wayne Baxter (Kathy) of Baxter’s Corner; his wife’s other siblings James Baxter (Verna) of Gorham’s Bluff, and the late Wesley Baxter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from All Saint’s Anglican Church, Upper Loch Lomond, on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to All Saint’s Anglican Church, Upper Loch Lomond, or any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
