Obituary of Flora May Clarke
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Flora May Clarke, wife of the late Thomas H. Clarke, occurred on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Kingsway Care Centre. Born in Saint John on May 20, 1912, she was a daughter of the late, Ernest and Georgie (Saunders) Alderman. Flora was a member of Hillcrest United Baptist Church for many years and was also a chartered member of Hillcrest Village Seniors Group. She was the owner of the Martinon Community Store for many years. She is survived by her five children, Pleasance Tibbetts of Saint John; George (Patricia) Clarke of Quispamsis; Barbara (Edward) Mackie of Rothesay; Donna (Jim) Hazelwood of London, ON and Betty (Malcolm) Dempsey of Rothesay; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and husband; son, Thomas; two infant sons, Jack and Tom; two grandchildren, Dennis and Peppi; seven brothers, Norman, Burton, William, Donald, Pete, Jack and Ernest. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, July 25, 2011 from 7-9 pm and Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Hillcrest United Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Kingsway Care Centre, Hillcrest United Baptist Church, Canadian Bible Society or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
