In her 91st year, Stella Mary (Langille) Barton went home to the Lord on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the Loch Lomond Villa, surrounded by her daughter and granddaughter. Stella was born in Saint John on August 18, 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Noel) Connolly. Stella worked for many years at Centracare. Stella is survived by her children, daughter Shirley Thomas (Richard) and son Elton "Sonny" Langille, both of Saint John; her grandchildren, Darlene Smith (Mark) and Richard Thomas (Susan) of Saint John and Jeffrey Thomas of Edmonton, Alberta; her great grandchildren, Jason Smith (Erin), Andrew Smith, Travis Thomas (Miranda) and Amy Thomas; a brother, John Connolly of Saint John; a sister, Eilene Codner of Montreal; and several nieces and nephews. Stella was predeceased by her first husband, Elton Langille; her second husband, James Barton; and by brothers Dick, Joseph, Cam, Donald, and Bill Connolly. Although there will be no visitation time, relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside funeral service, which will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Please join the family for a time of remembrance and refreshment following the burial at Brenan’s Reception Centre. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, Romero House, or to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family, in lieu of flowers. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
