Obituary of Joseph A. Arsenault
The death of Joe Arsenault, husband of Hazel A. (Thibodeau) Arsenault occurred on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing following a brief illness. He was born on March 8, 1919 in Saint John to the late Vincent and Katherine (Doucette) Arsenault. Joe served in World War II with the Royal Canadian Forces, 18th Regiment Heavy A. A. Battery in Newfoundland. Upon returning home, Joe worked as a Longshoreman for the Winterport and as a carpenter in the summer months. He and Hazel bowled in the Golden Oldies and Recycled Teenagers Leagues. Besides his best friend and wife of over 75 years Hazel, Joe is survived by his sons: David (Julie) of Saint John and Bob (Lois) of Grand Bay-Westfield; daughter, Mary Phillips (Jim) of Saint John; sister, Julia Brunelle of Montreal, QC, seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Clifford; brothers: Gerald, Louis and Leo and sister, Marie Perry. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be from Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 12 noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Holy Trinity Building Fund or the Animal Rescue League would be appreciated by the family.
