Obituary of Lois Virginia Gorman
GORMAN, Lois Virginia With great sadness we announce the death of Lois Virginia Gorman on Sunday, November 6, 2011 in Saint John, NB. Beloved wife of the late John Gorman, loving mother of the late Virginia (Brian) Cerutti, Diane (Lane) Bishop and predeceased by an infant son. Dear Grandmother of Pamela, Laura and Geoffrey Bishop, Michael and AnneMarie Cerutti. Also survived by her brother John (Marion) Gordon of Lindsay, ON and sister-in-law Margaret (Floyd) Anderson of Rock Island, IL and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her much loved sister Katherine (Don) Angus, and her sister-in-law Elizabeth (Wilf) Chick, all of Toronto. Born in 1921 to John and Edith Gordon in Sault Ste. Marie three doors from her future husband, she was raised in Orillia and returned to spend most of her life in Sault Ste. Marie, where she will be missed by her many dear friends. Lois was a gifted soprano who shared her vocal talents with troops in training during the war. Widowed in her mid-forties, she met life’s challenges with dignity and courage; always a kind and gentle person who continued to make friends into her final months. A celebration of her life will be held in Sault Ste. Marie at a time to be announced. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, or to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sault Ste. Marie. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Online condolences and remembrances may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
