Obituary of Helen Josephine Carlson
Helen Josephine Carlson of Saint John, wife of the late C. Laurence "Laurie" Carlson, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on November 6, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Leetch) Donahue. Helen enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and was a talented painter, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, enjoying the various activities they would do together. She had a wonderful day on Saturday, attending Kara and Jeremy’s wedding, where she had the opportunity to spend the entire day in the company of her family and many friends. Helen is survived by her children, Christine Robson (Barry) of Saint John, Linda Carlson of Saint John, Paul Carlson (Krista) of Saint John, and Wayne Carlson (Sue) of Hampton; grandchildren Kara McLean (Jeremy), Kirk Carlson and Kaylin Carlson, all of Saint John, and Jillian and Emily Carlson of Hampton; a sister, Vivian Kerr of Hampton; long time special friends Coney Currie of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Valerie Belyea of Saint John, and Jeanne Mawhinney of Chance Harbour, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Helen was predeceased by a brother, Francis Donahue. Although there will be no visiting, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Cherry Brook Zoo would be appreciated by the family.
