Obituary of Mary Helen Mullin
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mary Helen Mullin of Saint John, NB, wife of the late George Robert Mullin, which occurred on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Maugerville, NB on June 26, 1916 she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Anne (Gallagher)Mahoney. Helen loved nature and spending time camping with her children and grandchildren who were the apple of her eye. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, swimming and bowling. Helen was known for never missing a game of cards whether it was 45’s, bridge or crib. She was a life long parishioner of St. Pius X Church and was a past president of the CWL. Helen volunteered for the Saint John Literacy program, New Brunswick Museum and the Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Millidgeville Seniors Club, and the Nurses Alumni. Helen was a registered RN at St. Joseph’s Hospital until her retirement in 1981. Helen is survived by her two daughters, Maureen Prakken (Andrew) of Brooklin, ON and Theresa Ferguson (Christopher) of Saint John; one son, Tom Mullin (Mary) of Nerepis, NB; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Rita Bent of Fredericton, NB; daughter-in-law, Carol Mullin of Kingston, ON; sister-in-law, Loretta Mullin of Nova Scotia; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Esther Miller of O’Leary, PEI; special niece Aroon Bailey who was like a daughter to Helen; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband and parents; one son, Larry Mullin; one brother, Thomas Frances Mahoney; one sister, Phyllis MacNeil and her husband Neil; one niece, Mary Christina MacNeil and brother-in-law, John Harris Bent. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 12 noon. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetic Association would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be placed at www.brenansfh.com
