Obituary of Arthur R. Hovey
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden death of Arthur Royden Hovey of Saint John, NB on Friday, April 22nd at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. Born, June 19th, 1938, in Apohaqui, NB, he was the son of the late Christopher Hovey and Jean (Northup) Hovey. Art is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beatrice "Eileen" (Miller) Hovey of Saint John; one son, Mark (Lisa) of Saint John; two daughters: Karen Thompson of Waasis and Cindy Hovey (Todd Kent) of Halifax, NS; five grandchildren: Ashley and Patrick Thompson, Lauren and Caroline Hovey and Aristarkh Kent and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Wayne Hovey. Art graduated from Saint John High School in 1956 and was a member of the 1961 UNB graduating class of Civil Engineering. He was the owner and operator of Spectrum Enterprises on Saint John. He was a lifetime member of the Professional Engineers of New Brunswick and the Miramichi Salmon Association. Our family takes comfort in knowing that at the time of his passing, he was enjoying his true passion – salmon fishing on the Miramichi. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral liturgy will be held from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 12:30PM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
