Obituary of Fred William McKinney

MCKINNEY , Fred William Family and friends are saddened by the death of Fred William McKinney, son of the late Elizabeth R. (Comeau) and Douglas G. McKinney, which occured on January 16, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Fred was born in Saint John on February 23, 1951, and graduated from Saint John Vocational School in 1969. He had worked at Fundy Ventilation, Deluxe French Fries, Canaport, Tim Hortons, the Irving Refinery, and had retired from the Saint John Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Company (Local 3), after 20 years. Fred had been a Charter Member of the Hampton Lions Club, and a former member of the Hampton Boy Scout Group Committee, Navy League, and also spent time as a human service counsellor. Besides his loving wife Ann (Chamberlain) of 41 years, he is survived by his son Troy (Rena), daughter Karie (Stephen) McAuliffe, son Brent (Tara); five grandsons, Criss Erb, Cody and Dylan McKinney, Brady and Riley McAuliffe, and one on the way. He is also survived by his sisters Joan Hope, Julia McKinney, Janie Guimond (Claude), foster sister Rita (Roy) Allaby, brothers Roy (Linda), Ralph (Pat) Kane, Doug (Debbie), Brice (Faith), Leonard and Harold Giggey and Anthony (Eva) Guimond. Also survived by father-in-law Joseph Chamberlain, brother-in-law Brian (Brenda), and sister-in-law Bonnie. Fred will be deeply missed by very close niece Erika (Jason), and special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Fred was pre-deceased by brothers Ronald McKinney and Boyd Guimond, sister Kim McCluskey, and foster parents Doris and Bernard Doherty, as well as his mother-in-law, Helen Chamberlain. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street on Friday at 10:00am. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
