Obituary of Emile Joseph Gauvin
Emile Joseph "Frenchie" Gauvin of Saint John, husband of the late Dora Marie (Doucet) Gauvin, passed away on Saturday, December 03, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, following a brief illness. Born at Caraquet, New Brunswick on March 10, 1925, he was a son of the late Albert and Eva (Chenard) Gauvin. Emile worked as a carpenter in the Saint John area for various companies and on various projects in the city. He was a Veteran of World War II, and was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2. He and Dora had many good times at the 1880 Air Force Club, often dancing five nights a week. Always young at heart, Emile also enjoyed swimming, hunting, watching Jeopardy, and loved his daughter’s friends as they visited. Emile is survived by his daughter, Sherry M. Gauvin of Saint John; sisters-in-law Thérèse Gauvin of St. Jerome, QC and Alice Richard of Shediac; a brother-in-law, Gérald Doucet of Brantville, NB; and several nieces and nephews. Emile was predeceased by a brother, Livin Gauvin; and by a sister, Stephanie Lanteigne. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 7-9 PM and Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 12:05 PM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street, Saint John. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery on Thursday at 1:30 PM. For those who wish, remembrances to the SPCA Animal Rescue or the Joshua Group would be appreciated by the family.
