Obituary of John David Baker
The death of John David Baker of Saint John, husband of Carol (Bellew) Baker, occurred on Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Digby, NS, he was a son of the late Albert and Marion (Thomas) Baker. John had served with the RCASC from 1945 to 1958. He was employed with the Canadian Coast Guard as an Engineer on the Thomas Carleton, and later he worked as a private caregiver. John was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing and had volunteered for the Canadian Council of the Blind, former member of the Lions Club of Saint John. He is survived by three sons: Albert Baker (Ruth), Peter Baker (Theresa) and Robert Baker; four daughters: Sue Thompson (Gunner Tomson), Kathy Wilson (Gary), Christine Raynes (Buddy), and Karen Ballard; two stepdaughters: Beth Ruseff and Lisa Lanteigne (Gary Smith); several grandchildren, great grandchildren and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Charles Baker. John was of great nature and always full of fun. He will be sadly missed. To honour John’s request, visitation will take place following cremation, on Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) at 12 Noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish remembrances to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
