Obituary of H. Maureen Barry

Surrounded by her family, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Helena Maureen (Strang) Barry of Saint John, N.B., wife of the late Joseph Esmonde Barry, which occurred Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Malden, N.B., she was the daughter of the late John and Pauline (Sweeney) Strang. She is survived by her children: Dr. Brian (Elizabeth) Barry of Ottawa, Katherine Cotton of Kingston, Jane (Stanley) Frank of Ottawa, Ellen Sargent of Saint John, Ronald (Doreen) Barry of Saint John, Eileen Keating of Saint John, Gregory (Lynn) Barry of Calgary, Captain Denis (Susan) Barry of Rothesay, Joseph (Tara) Barry of Saint John, Christopher (Carole) Barry of Rothesay, Dr. Susan (Jerry) Bianchi of Toronto; her siblings: Elaine McInerney of Toronto, Kathleen (William) Mitchell of Grimshaw, AB, Joan Steele of Whitehorse, Yukon, Daniel Strang of Malden, NB, Michael (Margaret) Strang of Edmonton, AB, Russell (Joanne) Strang of Comox, BC, Gary (Sharon) Strang of High Prairie, AB; sisters-in-law Julie Strang of Edmonton, Irene Barry of London, Therese Byrne of Saint John; brother-in-law Reverend Kevin Barry of Saint John; grandchildren: Sharon (Sean) East, Daniel (Laura) Barry, Kathleen (Prasanna Balasundaram) Barry, Maureen (Brent) Stirling-Barry, Michael Cotton, David Cotton, Dr. Christine Frank, Carolyn Frank, Cairina Frank, Geoffrey (Renee) Sargent, Sarah (Jay) MacKenzie, Kevin (Ellena) Barry, Christopher (Laura) Barry, Sean Barry, Raelynn Barry, Adam Keating, Erin Keating, Justin Barry, Ronald Barry, Shannon (Erna) Barry, Nicole Barry, Matthew Barry, Patrick Barry, Mitchell Barry, Cameron Barry, Laura (Jesse Megeney) Mersereau, Caitlin Barry, Marissa Barry and Julia Barry; great grandchildren: Isobel East, Alex East, Cohan Barry, Parker Barry, Ciaran Balasundaram, Isla Balasundaram, Liam Stirling, Garrett Sargent, Gwyneth Sargent, Greta Sargent and Jack MacKenzie; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Kevin Patrick Barry; her sister, Elizabeth Cullinan; her brother, Raymond Strang; her grandson, Mathieu Turcotte; her brothers-in-law, Murray McInerney, Douglas Steele, Gerard Barry, George Byrne; her sisters-in-law Nancy Strang, Patricia Barry and sons-in-law, Gary Sargent, Peter Cotton. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, with visiting on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 and Thursday, November 22, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Cathedral Catholic Women’s League will hold a prayer vigil at 2 p.m. on Wednesday November 21, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 23, 2018 from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 12:10 p.m. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances to J.
