Obituary of Leo Joachim Hickey
Hickey, Leo Joachim – Surrounded by his family the death of Leo Hickey, husband of the late Frances “Lillian” (Buckley) Hickey occurred at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing on Monday, December 20, 2010. He was born on August 12, 1923 at Bayswater, NB to the late John and Elizabeth (Donner) Hickey. Leo worked for IAC and Niagara Finance retiring as a supervisor. After retiring he was self employed in property management for several years. Leo was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 and St. Bridget’s Church. He is survived by his son, Patrick (Mary Lou) of Bayswater; three daughters: Anne Dunn (Robert) of Calgary, AB; Karen Lee (Michael) of Grand Bay-Westfield and Colleen Hickey (Kurt Forstner) of Saint John; 13 grandchildren: Mark (Kirsten), Trevor, Kevin (Elizabeth), Ryan (Tracy), Karen (Jason), Heather (Wiktor), Jon (Ginny), Caitlin (Justin), Megan, Erinn, Adam, Andrea (John), Marie (Steve); 15 great grandchildren: Brenden, Kathryn, Lillian, Kendra, Violet, Chase, Sophia, Natalie, Andrew, Matthew, Leo, Nathan, Evan, Austin and Scott and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Leo was predeceased by his brothers: Edward, Frank, Sarto, Gerald and Charles and his sisters: Kay Barlow, Mabel Lane and Gertrude Rahn. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will be held on Wednesday at 7 PM during visiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 10 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Ridgewood Van Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be placed at www.brenansfh.com.
