Obituary of Leonard Gilbert Blizzard
Leonard Gilbert Blizzard of Bayswater, husband of Berenice A. (Neves) Blizzard, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Kennebec Manor. Born at Saint John on May 4, 1928, he was a son of the late Melville and Mariam (Wilson) Blizzard. Leonard worked for Canadian National Railways for 17 years, and then for the Canadian Pacific Railway for 25 years. He enjoyed living in a rural setting where he was able to cut his own wood and grow a nice vegetable garden. He was Anglican by faith. In addition to his wife of 62 years, Leonard is survived by his children, Julie Fowler (Nelson) of Bayswater, Carolyn Blizzard of Campbell River, BC, Peggy Cleghorn (Darren Davidson) of Victoria, BC, Reginald Blizzard (Carmelle) of Campbell River, BC, and Richard Blizzard (Susan) of Quispamsis; grandchildren Christopher Snodgrass, Sarah Snodgrass, Sabrina Fowler, Jillian Fowler, Amanda Blizzard, and Scott Blizzard; a brother, Arthur Blizzard (Joan) of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Leonard was predeceased by brothers Frederick and Lorne; and by sisters Gertrude Foster and Rita McKnight. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:00 AM from Brenan’s Paradise Row Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in the Loyalist Cemetery, Harding’s Point.
