Obituary of Winston Churchill Bagley
Winston Churchill Bagley of Saint John passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at North Head, Grand Manan on January 8, 1941, he was a son of the late William and Pearl (Tidd) Bagley. Winston worked as a fisherman and carpenter, along with various other occupations, and was the last light keeper on Partridge Island before the lighthouse was automated. He enjoyed watching hockey, and was an avid fan of the Saint John Flames and the Saint John Sea Dogs. In later years, and when his health allowed, Winston was found almost daily on Harbour Passage, enjoying the sights and fresh sea air. Winston is survived by his children, Dennis Bagley (Racquel Ouellette), April Pitts (Philip) and Patrick Bagley (Monica), all of Quispamsis; grandchildren Nicholas Donnelly, Liam Pitts, Cohen Bagley, Jayden Ouellette, Kayla Ouellette, and Kya Bagley; a brother, Horace Bagley (Helen) of Saint John; sisters Violet Green (Irvin) of Blacks Harbour and Joyce Morse of Seal Cove, Grand Manan; and several nieces and nephews. Winston was predeceased by his wife, Christine (Duplessis) Bagley; a grandson, Ashton Bagley; and by brothers Earl and Ernest Bagley. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, Grand Manan, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
