Obituary of Murray Armond Patterson
Surrounded by his three daughters, the death of Murray Armond (pat) Patterson occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital September 17, 2011. Loving husband, brother, father and friend he will be missed and remembered by many. Born in Saint John on June 18th 1925 to the late Armond and Melvina (Veniot ) Patterson he began his working life as a "Red Cap" for the Railway , went on to a career at NB Power, where he established life long friendships. He was instrumented in establishing the Drop In Centers, through which he connected with the young people of the community. A Veteran of WW2, Murray was always active in coaching and playing sports throughout his life. Murray is survived by his three daughters: Deborah Poley (Edward) of Saint John, Pamela Brown of Oromocto and Christine Patterson (John Palmer) of Hawley PA, three brothers: Joseph (Helen) of Hampton, John (Yvonne) of Saint John, James (Bernadine) of Sussex, five grandchildren, Patricia, Natacia, Rhanda, Britany, and Nate; six great grandchildren: Alissah, Mathew, Jacob, Isaac, Brady, and Van., and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Murray was predeceased by his loving wife and partner Irene, his son Patrick Patterson, sisters, Dorcus, Sadie and Eileen, and grandson, Josh Brown. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, Clarendon Street on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
