Obituary of Helen Paschal Miller
The death of Miss Helen P. Miller of Saint John occurred at the St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at age 95. Born in Hamilton, Bermuda on July 22, 1915, she was a daughter of the late George T. and Essie G. (Paschal) Miller. Helen was a member of the first graduating class of Saint John High School at the Prince William Street location, and continued her education at the Provincial Normal School in Fredericton. She taught in several Saint John area schools before her retirement. Helen was a member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church and the Philip A. Jerguson Chapter 18 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club and the Thistle St. Andrew’s Curling Club. Helen enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and took many trips to several world destinations. Helen is survived by her brother, Frank L. Miller (Jane) of Saint John; nephews Richard Miller (Pam) of Miramichi, Phillip Miller (Marilyn) of Montreal, QC, and Andrew Miller (Joyce) of Saint John; nieces Sue Cunningham (Ivan) of Saint John and Elizabeth Miller (Raymond Squance) of Clifton Royal; as well as several grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Miller, and by a brother, Sydney Miller. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to St. Luke’s Anglican Church or the St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home would be appreciated by the family.
