Obituary of Erma Irene Creamer
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Erma I. Creamer of Charlton Place, Saint John which occurred unexpectedly at her residence on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Born in Saint John on July 14, 1925 she was a daughter of the late David Vincent and Mary G (Arseneau) Creamer. Erma was predeceased by her brothers, Norman, David, Gordon and sister-in-law, Maureen; infant sisters, Mary Francis and Mary Genevieve. She is survived by her brothers, Don (Gloria) of Saint John; Robert (late, Connie); Ralph of ON and Tom (Carol) of Alberta; sisters, Dorothy Perry of Saint John; Jean (Pete) Nichols of ON; sister-in-law, Ruth; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Erma is also survived by her son, Paul (Deborah) of Saint John; three grandchildren, Dan (Joanna) of Quispamsis; Heather (Jeff) Bernhard of Chester, Maryland and Joe of Saint John; four great-grandchildren, Emma and Ethan Creamer and Gabrielle and Maggie Bernhard; special niece who was like a daughter, Deanna "Susie" Estabrooks (Mike Simoneau). Erma loved the grocery business and over the years worked at Gaults, O’Riellys, City Market and Kwik Pik where she retired from, then started baby sitting for many years. She was a "go to person" for many, as she had a wealth of information on people, places and dates, she could do math quicker in her head than on a calculator. Always a north ender, she had her own place at Charlton Place for 27 years and enjoyed many years of helping to run the bingo games at the complex. She loved fresh strawberries, hot cross buns and a good lobster roll, and never missed reading the daily paper cover to cover. Those of us on her daily phone list (you know who you are) will surely miss her calls. She enjoyed hearing and retelling stories of all the grandchildren who gave her many laughs. Erma attended St. Puis X Church when she was able and canvassed for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 7-9 pm and Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 10:00 am from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or VON would be appreciated by the family.
